The Holistic Dentistry Treatment Process

Local Anesthetic

Depending on the extent of the treatment and your comfort level, the dental professional may administer a local anesthetic to numb the area being treated. This ensures that you remain pain-free throughout the procedure.

Scaling & Root Planing

Scaling is the first step in the process. Using special dental instruments, the dentist or hygienist will remove plaque and tartar (hardened plaque) from the tooth's surface and below the gumline. This cleaning is done both above and below the gumline to eliminate bacterial deposits and help smooth the tooth's root surfaces.  After scaling, root planing follows. This process involves smoothing out the rough areas on the tooth's root surfaces. Smoothing the roots helps prevent bacteria from re-attaching and promotes the reattachment of the gums to the tooth.

Ozone Therapy

Ozone therapy in dental cleanings involves the use of ozone gas (O3) as a part of the dental hygiene process. Ozone is a naturally occurring gas that consists of three oxygen atoms. In dentistry, it is used for its antimicrobial and therapeutic properties including as an adjunct to traditional treatments for gum disease (periodontal disease). It helps in killing bacteria and reducing inflammation in the gum pockets, promoting better oral health.
