Why should I get a same-day crown?

If you have a broken, cracked, or deeply damaged tooth, getting a Same-Day Crown can restore it in just a couple of hours. Same-Day Crowns are manufactured in-house from a compressed CEREC E.max block, comprised of lithium disilicate glass ceramic. This material, E.max, is chosen for strength and translucency, which look, function, and feel like natural tooth enamel. With proper care and regular visits to your dentist, your crown can last for decades.

Because Same-Day Crowns are completed efficiently in a single visit, there’s no need to worry about scheduling a second appointment. The entire procedure is efficient and straightforward, allowing you to conveniently restore both your teeth and leave you with better oral health than when you came in!

Digital Models & Milling

After a procedure or retainers, the area of interest will be dried, and Dr. Wytko will begin taking pictures of the prepared tooth, teeth in the area, and your bite using the intraoral scanner. These pictures are then stitched together to produce a precise 3D model of your teeth! Once the crown design is finalized, the CAD/CAM system generates instructions for a milling machine. The milling machine carves the crown out of a solid block of e.max ceramic material. This milling process is highly precise and efficient.

Fit Inspection & Adjustments

Since CAD/CAM crowns are fabricated in-house, there is less risk of issues like miscommunication between the dental office and the laboratory, leading to a higher likelihood of a well-fitting crown. Dr. Wytko, or an assistant, will try- in the crown and make any small adjustments to ensure you can keep it clean.

Once the crown is out of the oven, it is prepared for the cementation process. The tooth receiving the crown is isolated, dried, and conditioned for cementation. After cementing the crown, Dr. Wytko flosses around the crown, the bite is verified comfortable, and the patient leaves with better oral health than when they came in!
